Protecting What Matters Most
From wildlife conservation to sustainable industry practices, Electra Mining Africa is committed to building a better, safer, and greener South Africa.
Standing Guard for South Africa’s Wildlife
Electra Mining Africa proudly supports the SANParks K9 Anti-Poaching Unit, a national initiative widely regarded as a game changer in the fight against wildlife crime.
Established in 2012, the unit now operates across South Africa’s national parks with more than 60 expertly trained dogs and their dedicated handlers. Together, they help protect endangered species such as rhino, elephant and pangolin from poachers.
These remarkable dogs are trained to detect illegal wildlife products, firearms, explosives and even human scent. Covering up to 15 km a day on patrol, their work has contributed to a 95 percent success rate in anti-poaching arrests. Their impact helps keep wildlife and park visitors safe.
Every R50 donation made during visitor registration supports the K9 Project Watchdog. These funds provide essential items such as GPS tracking collars, medical care, training facilities and upgraded kennel infrastructure. Your support ensures these dogs and their handlers can continue their lifesaving work.
Visitors to Electra Mining Africa will also have the chance to meet members of the K9 Unit and learn more about their work on the ground.
