Francois Marais

My name is Francois Marais. I was born as the elder of two to a sister 3 years younger. I grew up on a farm in the Petrus Steyn district in the Free State. I finished my High school career in 1982 at the Technical High School in Kroonstad.

I have 2 children, both married and stays abroad. I am also the “oupa” of 2 little girls and a boy.
Outside of work, I enjoy relaxing with friends and family. Life to me means friends and family who you can trust and who trusts you. I am pretty much on the happy side of life.

I have a passion for flying and as my late farther and my son, I have a PPL (Private Pilots License) which I obtained in 1990. I recently became a shareholder in a small plane based at Tedderfield close to Alberton. I also love gardening and the satisfaction to see your love, sweat and tears developing into a lash of colours still stays amazing.

After school I joined the police force where I also formed part of the State President’s forces. From there I upped myself in the security environment. After the birth of my children I decided to leave this environment due to the irregular working hours. My life made a few turns regarding work environments and my paths crossed that of the valve and pump industry. In 1999 I moved to Bethlehem where I settled down where I also met my current spouse.

After several jobs, I realized that my heart was in the valve and pump industry, and I decided to take the step to start my own company. With the believe and the support and trust of my wife, Stanfra was established in 2008. At first, I ran the company from Bethlehem, but soon realized that the client base was in Gauteng and Mpumalanga. I opened my workshop in Meyerton in 2010 and we moved to Meyerton and settled there.

The company’s main core of business started with the reconditioning and then the coating of pump and valve parts. As a strong believer in the power of positive thinking I saw the opportunity to create my own coating formulation and from there the birth of the Zyroflex coating.

As a further development and dealing with the pump and paper industry as our main client, I saw the need for a local manufactured valve at an affordable price. With the assistance and lead from persons with years of experience in the valve industry, the birth of the ……… valve was eminent.
