In the high-pressure, downtime-sensitive world of mineral processing, performance isn’t just 
measured in tons, it’s measured in minutes. Every unscheduled stop, every compromised 
circuit, every clogged spray bar chips away at the bottom line. In that landscape, few 
companies have matched the technical credibility (or quiet transformation) of Afri-Tech.
Best known across southern Africa for its precision-engineered screen and filter cloths, Afri-Tech built its early reputation on consistency, fast turnaround, and a deep understanding of 
plant-level needs. For years, mines relied on their cloths to deliver separation efficiency in 
linear screens, belt filters and press belts, from gold to coal to fruit pulp.

But what began as a specialist operation has evolved into something far more ambitious.
Today, Afri-Tech isn’t just a consumables supplier. It’s a full-service engineering workshop, 
trusted by OEMs and plant managers to build critical spares and process solutions that reduce 
downtime and extend equipment life. Their product range now includes rubber-lined rollers, 
tracking valves, brush-type spray bars, and the increasingly sought-after Power Nozzle: a self￾cleaning, high-efficiency spray system that’s changing how plants deal with process water and 
screen blinding.

It’s an evolution rooted in proximity to the problem.

“We didn’t set out to build a workshop,” says Richard Arends, managing director of Afri-Tech. 
“We just kept listening to what wasn’t working on site. When we saw operators battling with 
clogged nozzles or poor roller lifespan, we knew we could engineer better alternatives, and we 
did.”
The result is a growing stable of solutions, all designed with the same philosophy that shaped 
their filter cloths: reliability, practicality, and performance under pressure.
Take the Power Nozzle. Born out of frustration with conventional spray nozzles that clog 
under process water, it self-cleans without operator input, maintains a consistent spray 
pattern, and eliminates the frequent plant stoppages caused by nozzle blockages. Hundreds of 
units are now running in mines across Africa, and the product has already earned industry 
recognition for innovation and export performance.

But the transformation isn’t just about a broader product line; it’s about capability.

Afri-Tech’s engineering workshop in Krugersdorp operates with the kind of quality control and 
fabrication precision typically associated with much larger firms. From custom spray bars to 
high-wear spares, every product is built for real mining conditions, not for catalogue photos.

And while the company has scaled up, it hasn’t scaled out of touch. Lead times remain fast. 
Communication is still direct. Solutions are still developed side by side with plant teams, not 
imposed from afar.

That’s why Afri-Tech has become more than a nameplate on a filter cloth. It’s become a 
nameplate on the rollers that guide the belt. On the valves that keep tension. On the spray
