Grupel Strengthens South African Operations with Local Assembly and Presence at Electra Mining Africa 2026

Johannesburg, South Africa — 23 July 2026 — Grupel, a Portuguese manufacturer of generator sets celebrating 50 years of activity in 2026, is strengthening its presence on the African continent with local assembly capacity in South Africa and is preparing to take part in Electra Mining Africa 2026, taking place from 7 to 11 September at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec.

Grupel's participation in the event comes at a particularly relevant moment for the company's growth strategy in Africa. The company currently operates a unit in South Africa equipped with generator set assembly capacity, enabling closer proximity to the market and a faster, more tailored response to the needs of customers in the region.

This local capacity allows Grupel to reduce response times, adapt solutions to the specific requirements of each project, and strengthen technical and commercial support for customers and partners, consolidating the company's long-term commitment to the African market.

The South African operation thus represents a further step in Grupel's internationalization strategy, combining over 50 years of experience in engineering and the development of power generation solutions with an increasingly close presence in the markets where it operates.

During Electra Mining Africa 2026, one of the leading industrial events on the African continent, Grupel will present power generation solutions for sectors such as mining, construction, industry, telecommunications, data centers and critical infrastructure.

At its stand, the company will showcase its range of generator sets, with power outputs between 2 and 4200 kVA, available in different configurations, including open-frame, canopy and container, capable of meeting the demands of industrial projects and large-scale operations.

Visitors will also be able to learn more closely about Grupel's local assembly capacity and the company's expansion strategy in Africa, built on customer proximity, technical capability and the development of a strong partner network.

"Africa is a strategic market for Grupel, and we want to be increasingly close to our customers. Our assembly capacity in South Africa represents an important step in that commitment, allowing us to respond more quickly and in a way that is better tailored to the needs of the region. Electra Mining Africa will be a privileged opportunity to demonstrate this capacity and to strengthen relationships with customers and partners from across the continent," says Pedro Constantino, Managing Director of Grupel South Africa.

With over five decades of experience in developing power generation solutions and an established international presence, Grupel continues to invest in proximity to its markets and in its ability to provide solutions tailored to the specific needs of each project.

Visitors to Electra Mining Africa 2026 can find Grupel at Stand C26 – Hall 10, between 7 and 11 September, at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Johannesburg.
