Kal Tire Showcases Latest Innovations at Electra Mining 2026

At Electra, Kal Tire demonstrates new AI capabilities in TOMS (Tire & Operations Management System), designed to reduce tyre-related downtime, typically by 20 per cent, by automating planning forecasts, prioritising tyre work and aggregating tyre work more effectively. Beyond the day-to-day productivity gains, sites served by TOMS can elevate their strategy to one that’s proactive and informed by how tyre work impacts fleet use.
TOMS also serves as the planning hub for KalPRO TireSight and HaulSight autonomous inspections. Powered by Pitcrew AI thermal cameras and AI-detection software, TireSight helps mines identify early signs of tyre issues, such as hot spots or tread damage. HaulSight uses truck-mounted Decoda LiDAR and camera sensors to provide instant alerts of haul road hazards such as spillage, undulations and non-compliant berms. Both systems have the oversight of 24/7 condition monitoring teams to assess and prioritise flagged issues, enabling faster haul cycles, less downtime, longer tyre life and better fuel efficiency.
“The value is not just in detecting issues – it is in what happens next,” says Martin. “By combining autonomous inspections with expert analysis and priority-based planning, alerts turn into actions, helping trucks spend more time hauling.”
Kal Tire also features its latest tooling innovations developed to address two critical activities in mining tyre maintenance: inflation and wheel inspections. The KalPRO Goliath-25 is a heavy-duty, web-like containment enveloping the tyre and wheel assembly during inflation, helping to contain components should a catastrophic failure occur. Additionally, the latest version of KalPRO Argus, an on-site wheel inspection solution, uses electromagnetic non-destructive testing technology to detect wheel cracks before they lead to failures, downtime or safety concerns.
As mines work to reduce emissions and demonstrate progress against sustainability objectives, Kal Tire supports customers with solutions that help lower the environmental impact of mining tyre management. These include tyre life solutions such as retreading and repairs, as well as sustainability initiatives like the KalPRO Maple Program.
The Maple Program has reached a new milestone, achieving independent ISO verification for its carbon footprint methodology. Since 2019 it has provided customers with data to demonstrate their sustainability achievements when choosing to extend tyre life through Kal Tire retreads or repairs instead of purchasing new tyres. The verification provides customers with greater confidence that the carbon savings reported through the Maple Program are credible, transparent and based on recognized greenhouse gas accounting principles. SCS Global Services, an international leader in environmental and sustainability verification completed the third-party review.
