Mixtec to Challenge One of Process Mixing's Biggest Misconceptions at Electra Mining Africa 2026
Mixtec's Hydrofoil impellers in action
At Stand B32 in the Blue Zone, Mixtec will showcase how advances in hydrofoil impeller design can help achieve mixing objectives while reducing installed power requirements for the appropriate applications.

For many years, specifying larger motors has often been seen as the conservative approach to agitator selection. However, as mining operations continue to focus on energy efficiency and lowering total project costs, equipment design is playing an increasingly important role in optimising mixing systems.

With more than 40 years of experience and over 65,000 installations worldwide, Mixtec has developed agitation technologies designed to maximise performance rather than simply increasing power input.

The centrepiece of the stand will be Mixtec's proven Dual-Pumping Technology, used in conjunction with its latest-generation Hydrofoil Impellers. The technology is designed to improve fluid circulation and solids suspension efficiency for suitable mixing duties, allowing appropriately engineered systems to achieve the required mixing performance with lower installed power.

This approach can contribute to lower capital costs through appropriately sized drives and mechanical equipment, while also reducing long-term energy consumption where application conditions allow.

"Successful mixing is not about installing the largest motor," says Jono Lyndon, Managing Director of Mixtec. "It's about understanding the application and selecting equipment that delivers the required hydraulic performance for that specific duty. Our focus has always been on engineering the right agitator for the process."

Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn more about Mixtec's Solvent Extraction (SX) Mixer technology, which has been supplied to solvent extraction operations supporting lithium, battery minerals and other hydrometallurgical projects worldwide.

Every agitator is engineered to suit the client's specific operating conditions, taking into account factors such as fluid properties, slurry characteristics, solids suspension requirements, shear sensitivity and gas dispersion needs.

As the mining industry continues to pursue greater efficiency and lower operating costs, Mixtec believes the discussion should focus on applying the right mixing technology to each application, rather than relying solely on installed power.

Visit Mixtec at Stand B32 in the Blue Zone at Electra Mining Africa 2026 and discover why, for the right application, effective hydraulic design can achieve the required mixing performance without unnecessary power input.
