No Exhaust, No Excuse: What Battery Haulage Gives Back to an Underground Mine
Underground haulage on battery power — no exhaust in the heading, no diesel heat in the air the mine must move.
Underground, every machine is judged twice: once for the work it does, and once for what the mine must do to live with it. A diesel machine pays the second bill in air — its exhaust and heat must be diluted and carried away by the ventilation system, and diesel particulate matter is a recognised occupational health concern in underground workings worldwide.

A battery machine hands that bill back. No exhaust in the heading. No combustion heat added to air the mine must move and, in deep workings, cool. Less noise beside the operator. This is why battery locomotives have hauled ore and men through underground headings for over a century — they are the longest-serving electric vehicles on earth — and why battery haulage remains the natural choice wherever diesel is unwelcome.
