Zoei Tech Solutions to Showcase NLT Vigilance Intrinsically Safe Smart Cap Lamp at Electra Mining Africa 2026
Zoei Tech Solutions will showcase the Vigilance intrinsically safe wearable device at Electra Mining Africa 2026, demonstrated through its partnership with NLT Digital Solutions at Hall 3, Stand C28.
Vigilance is the latest in NLT's line of smart devices, which debuted with Messenger, the world's first cap lamp to accommodate bi-directional messaging. Belt-mounted and paired with a corded headpiece delivering 11,000 lux of high-intensity LED illumination, Vigilance combines lighting, communication, tracking, and situational awareness into a single rugged wearable platform engineered for a full working shift.
At the core of the device is a 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen protected by Dragontrail glass, backed up by a physical push-button keypad for reliable operation in gloves or dirty conditions. A built-in 5MP camera with dual LED flash allows workers to capture and share images for inspections, incident documentation, or remote troubleshooting, while an 80dBA speaker delivers clear audible alerts and two-way voice messaging.
Vigilance connects over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth, and integrates with NLT's Symphony software suite to enable real-time two-way messaging, active RFID and Wi-Fi personnel tracking, and alarm management across a site. A 3.7V, 15.6Ah lithium-ion battery provides more than 14 hours of runtime per shift, recharging in 8-10 hours via single or rack-mount chargers and rated for 500-plus charge cycles.
Built for the harshest underground conditions, Vigilance is IP65 rated, operates from -10°C to 40°C, and carries IECEx ExTC 23.0002X certification for intrinsically safe use in coal mines with methane risk. The main unit weighs 780g (1,150g with headpiece) and measures 165 x 102 x 76mm. The design has been recognised internationally, receiving both an IDEA Award and an Australian Good Design Award.
An optional proximity detection expansion module — the Vigilance Strata PAD — can be added on-site via a quick-connect slot to extend Vigilance with zone-based hazard and collision avoidance alerts, without opening the unit.
"Vigilance was built around a simple idea — that a worker's safety device shouldn't force a trade-off between ruggedness and usability," a Zoei Tech Solutions spokesperson said. "It gives operators a single wearable platform for tracking, communication, and alerting that's engineered to survive a full shift underground."
