Iptron Technology CC specializes in the measurement and control of tension in conveyor belts. Established in 1983 by Ian Plunkett under Numeritech (Pty) Ltd, the company transferred to Iptron in 1991. Conveyor tension control has evolved into a highly specialized field, encompassing advanced control philosophy, mechanical design and performance. Iptron pioneered the development of the EGT-2000 Automatic Tension Controller and the 6TH-120 Tension Load Cell in 1982, supplying approximately 150 systems. In 1995, the company redesigned the system with modern technology, introducing the EGT-2420 a highly reliable controller with over 600 units supplied worldwide. Iptron designs and manufactures electronics and load cells in house, ensuring exceptional quality. Initially these components were supplied to distributors for installation in winch panels. From 2000 Iptron began assembling its own winch panels to address quality concerns and maintain control over the production process.
