Sheq Safety’s story began in 2004, not in a boardroom, but in a modest garage built on a simple belief: the people who power South Africa’s industries deserve reliable protection they can trust.
What started as a small operation has grown into a respected national business supplying personal protective equipment (PPE) and workwear to the mining, industrial, and commercial sectors across South Africa and selected African markets. Along the way, Sheq Safety has remained focused on being more than just a supplier. The goal has always been to deliver protection that genuinely works in the real environments our customers face every day from factory floors and smelters to open-cast and underground mines.
A cornerstone of this approach is our Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) model. Our on-site PPE stores function as safety management hubs, staffed by trained teams who understand each client’s operational and compliance requirements. With real-time stock visibility and proactive support, these facilities ensure the right equipment is available at the right time reducing downtime, improving compliance, and keeping people safe.
Another key part of our journey is Sahara Workwear, our own registered brand. Produced at an SABS 434 accredited facility, the Sahara range is designed for durability, comfort, and performance. From trusted SABS-approved cotton garments to specialised flame-retardant, acid-resistant, and denim ranges, every product is shaped by practical experience and end-user feedback. This includes the development of our Women in Workwear range created in response to the real needs of women working in demanding industrial environments.
Today, with distribution points in Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Northern Cape and the Western Cape, Sheq Safety continues to grow while staying true to its roots. Our journey is one of steady progress, long-term partnerships, and a genuine commitment to making workplaces safer, more efficient, and more resilient proving that a vision born in a garage can make a lasting difference across an entire industry.
