Reshma Rumkumar

With decades of executive leadership experience in the mining and heavy industry sectors, Reshma is a seasoned Chief Risk Officer and Risk Finance Executive recognised for building resilient organisations and enabling sustainable business performance through strategic risk leadership. Throughout a distinguished career with multinational listed companies, she has led enterprise-wide risk, insurance, governance, sustainability, business continuity, and organisational resilience functions, partnering closely with Boards and executive leadership teams to align risk strategy with corporate objectives and protect enterprise value.

Reshma has extensive expertise in enterprise risk management, having developed and implemented ISO 31000-aligned risk frameworks across complex international operations. She has directed multinational insurance programmes, negotiated innovative risk financing solutions, and managed some of the mining industry's most significant and complex claims, including one of South Africa's largest mining insurance claims.

A recognised leader in organisational resilience, Reshma has successfully led business continuity and crisis preparedness programmes, including strategic recovery planning following major industrial action and other high-impact operational disruptions. Her work has strengthened organisational capability to anticipate, respond to, and recover from complex risks while supporting long-term business sustainability.

Beyond her executive responsibilities, Reshma is an active contributor to international industry forums, sharing insights on enterprise risk management, governance, resilience, and sustainability. She holds a Master of Science in Management of Technology and Innovation and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Chemical Engineering, combining technical expertise with strategic business leadership.

Reshma currently heads Business Development at Hawcroft, the only global independent risk engineering consulting company. In this role, she works with organisations across a range of industries to strengthen operational resilience through independent risk engineering, enterprise risk management, insurance risk improvement, and strategic advisory services.
