Tanya Dadmehr
Qualifications: B.Sc. Mining Engineering; M.Sc. Mineral Processing
Tanya Dadmehr is a Mineral Processing Engineer at Kavoshgaran Consulting Engineers Co. (KCE), where she has worked for the past four years on the design and development of mineral processing projects in Iran. Her responsibilities include process testing, flowsheet development, process engineering, and the preparation of technical documentation. She has worked on projects involving iron ore, copper, gold, molybdenum, and ferro silicomanganese, including the Esfandar Iron Ore Concentration Plant and the Anjerd Copper Concentrate Plant. In these projects, she has worked as a process testing engineer, flowsheet designer, and laboratory supervisor.
Her professional work involves the preparation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Block Flow Diagrams (BFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), mass and water balances, and process description reports. She also works with process simulation and engineering software such as Metso BRUNO, METSIM, HSC Sim, and AutoCAD, applying these tools to the analysis, design, and optimization of mineral processing circuits.
Tanya received her B.Sc. in Mining Engineering from Imam Khomeini International University, Qazvin, on a full academic scholarship. She is currently completing her M.Sc. in Mineral Processing at Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch, Tehran, where she has consistently ranked among the top students in her program. Her master's thesis, “Optimization of Specific Energy Consumption in a Ball Mill Circuit Using a Process Simulation Approach: A Case Study of an Iron Ore Concentrator Plant,” examines the use of process simulation to reduce energy consumption in grinding circuits. The subject reflects her broader interest in applying practical, data-based approaches to improve the efficiency of mineral processing operations.
Alongside her technical and academic work, Tanya has developed a particular interest in the role of mentorship in the development of young engineers. As a young woman working in mineral processing, she has experienced the importance of access to experienced professionals and meaningful professional guidance, particularly during the early stages of a career. This experience led her, together with Dr. Farshad Rashidinejad, to co-author the paper “Leading Digital Transformation in Mining 5.0: AI-Driven Mentorship for the Next Generation of Female Engineers,” which will be presented at Electra Mining Africa 2026 during the Seminar Theatre’s Women in Mining and Engineering Day.
The paper examines how AI-based mentorship platforms could help connect early-career female engineers with experienced mentors across geographical boundaries. It considers the potential of these technologies to improve access to professional guidance and support the development of more women into technical and leadership positions in the mining industry.
Her professional interests include mineral processing, process simulation, energy efficiency, digital transformation, Mining 5.0, and the development of women in mining and engineering. Through her work, Tanya aims to contribute to more efficient mineral processing practices while also supporting broader opportunities for women to build long-term careers in the mining industry.
