Tanya Graham

Tanya Graham is the Managing Director of COMODEX Consultancy and the founder of the Mine Mentor Exchange Programme (MMEP), an industry-driven development initiative focused on bridging the gap between mining education and operational readiness.

With extensive experience across mining training, leadership development, workplace readiness, and industry engagement, Tanya has become known for her practical and innovative approach to developing young mining professionals. Her work focuses on creating experiential learning opportunities that expose students and graduates to the realities of the mining industry before entering the workplace.

Under her leadership, COMODEX has developed and facilitated a range of industry-aligned programmes incorporating simulated mining environments, HIRAC and safety-based learning, mentorship, technical development, leadership training, and competency benchmarking. She has also led collaborations with universities, mining companies, suppliers, and professional bodies to strengthen graduate development pipelines within the South African mining sector.

A strong advocate for human-centred leadership in mining, Tanya also integrates Equine-Assisted Leadership and Development (EALD) into mining leadership programmes, helping individuals and teams develop communication, accountability, emotional awareness, and leadership presence in high-pressure environments.

Her work is centred around one core belief: that real competence is built through practical exposure, guided experience, mentorship, reflection, and industry engagement — not through theory alone.

Through COMODEX and Mine Mentor, Tanya continues to champion innovative approaches to mining skills development, with a focus on building confident, competent, and industry-ready professionals for the future of mining in Africa.
